Inside China Daily
The problem
Writing about international relations in English, about a country that works in Chinese, for readers who will notice every place the seam shows.
In short
Six months editing, translating and shaping international-relations coverage for one of China's largest English-language newsrooms.

Editorial work in two languages is not translation with a byline on top. A commentary that reads as authoritative in Chinese can read as evasive in English, and the same sentence carries different weight depending on which audience is holding it.
The measurable half was platform work: content strategy for the China Watch Institute’s WeChat account, where engagement rose 20% over the period, and article-level work across twenty-plus international relations pieces.
The other half was event and media relations, including translation for the FAO in China: 40 Years commencement, where the audience was diplomatic and the margin for an imprecise word was zero.
The published pieces sit behind China Daily's own masthead and are not reproduced here.
